Waiver of this requirement is not guaranteed. However, for applications submitted ON or AFTER October 20, 2022, the requirement for retaking the VTNE may be waived should the applicant meet very specific waiver requirements. Dates for the VTNE are set by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB). Once you have completed the LBVM application, you will need to apply online with AAVSB directly at and pay the appropriate testing fees for the VTNE exam. Submitting the completed application, supplemental documents and applicable fees above through the LBVM Application Portal will allow you to register to take the VTNE.

* In order to qualify for RVT registration with the LBVM, one must have successfully completed (1) a program in veterinary technology which is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association OR (2) a board-approved program in veterinary technology at an accredited institution of higher education and have two years actual experience working in a veterinary practice under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. A final transcript or copy of your diploma must be submitted after you complete your program.
